Pumpkin Patch

This past weekend we took a trip to a local pumpkin patch. It was so nice and sunny out. Jo loved the hayride and watching all the action!

3 Months Old!

Dear Josephine,

You are 3 months old today! Time has gone by so fast! Here's what you're up to at this age:

  • You just took your first trip! You went this past weekend to see your Auntie Annie, Uncle Steve, and cousins in Wisconsin.
  • You are still a very happy and smiley baby! You laugh a lot more now, usually when someone is talking or singing to you. We were watching the newest Star Trek movie at Ann and Steve's house. At one point you would start laughing whenever Spock was speaking! It was so cute!
  • You are now rolling over! You rolled over from your back to your tummy for the first time on Ann and Steve's family room floor. Then yesterday you rolled from your tummy to your back! I can't believe that you rolled over both ways before you were three months old! It is still easier for you to go from your back to your tummy, though. You can do it with very little effort. But going from your tummy to your back is harder for you, and sometimes you get frustrated, which has led to some sleep challenges. . .
  • So, remember our baby who started sleeping really great at about a month old? What happened to her? Since last Friday night, you've had a really tough time with sleep. We were at Ann and Steve's, and you started trying to roll over in your bassinet. We would find your face squished up against the padded sides in the middle of the night. This really freaked us out, so we went to buy a pack and play the next day. But then you had lots of room, so you started rolling all over and waking yourself up. This has been happening all night ever since. We put you down (in your crib that is in our bedroom for time being) and within a few minutes you're rolling in your sleep. When you find yourself on your tummy or up against a side, you get upset! Sometimes you will settle down and sleep for a short period of time (usually a couple of hours), but usually we have to soothe and settle you, only to have you wake up again! We are hoping this is just a phase because rolling is so new to you. But, in the meantime, we are extremely sleep deprived and wanting the 8 hour stretch back! Heck, we'll even take a 4 hour stretch! :) And napping? Well, you nap more now that you don't sleep well at night, but you still prefer to be held or to sleep in bed with me. We're working on this, too!
  • You still have reflux, but it has been under control since your dosage was adjusted last month.
  • You wear mostly size 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. At your 2 month appointment (which was really at 2.5 months) you were in the 50th percentile for weight and head circumference and 75th percentile for height. You are long, and we don't know where you get that gene from!
  • You are so fun to take places because you love to look around at things. You are very smart, and you are good out in public.
  • You still love being outside. It has been very warm lately, so we try to go for lots of walks.
  • We think you are the cutest, sweetest baby in the world!

You are the light of our lives! Sleep or no sleep, we love you more than anything!

Wisconsin Trip

We spent this past Friday through Monday in Wisconsin visiting my sister Ann, her husband Steve, and their four adorable kids. They moved to Wisconsin this past summer, and they live in a charming, small town. We had so much fun visiting them! Jo loved all the attention from her cousins, and she even rolled over for the first time on their family room floor!

Here are some pictures from the trip. The first few were taken at a scenic overlook on the way down there.

Apple Orchard

This past weekend we went to an apple orchard. Ryan and I visited this same orchard last year. I was actually pregnant when we went last year, but we didn't know it yet! (We found out a few days later.) It was so much fun to go back this year with our baby! Fall is my favorite season, and we have been looking forward to taking Jo to the apple orchard for a while. It was a beautiful day!
