Six Weeks Old!

Dear Jo-Jo,
Today you are six weeks old! Here are some things you are up to:
  • You are smiling a lot! You've been smiling for a while now, but it has really picked up the past week or so.
  • Your acid reflex is much better, and the new medication seems to be working. Mommy is still on a dairy-free diet, too. You are much happier now compared to a couple weeks ago.
  • You are sleeping really good at night. After we put you down, you sleep 6-7 hours before getting up to eat. Then you go back down and sleep 3-4 hours before eating again.
  • We are still working on getting a more regular nap schedule down. We are also working on getting you to nap in your bassinet or crib. You only want to nap while Mommy holds you! However, the past few days you have been napping well in the wrap sling. At least then Mommy can have her arms free!
  • You love being outside. We try to spend time outside and go for lots of walks if the weather is nice.
  • You are still a hungry little girl and like to eat a lot!
  • At your one month appointment (which was really at 1.5 months) you were in the 50th percentile for height, weight, and head circumference! You wear size newborn clothes and newborn diapers.
  • You are becoming more and more interactive everyday, and we love watching you discover the world around you!

We love you so much, Josephine! We are so happy to be your parents!

Saturday

We had a very busy day on Saturday. First, my mom watched little Jo while Ryan and I went out to lunch. Kiki and Maria also helped watch her, and I'm pretty sure she got plenty of attention. She loves her grandma and aunties!

Later, my friend Katie stopped by to meet and hold Josephine. It was so nice to see her!

That evening I took Jo to church with Kiki and Maria. She did great. She was awake for half of mass and asleep for the other half. Then we went to the hospital to see Peter. My mom had Jo laughing and smiling! It was so cute! Thankfully, Peter was able to go home Sunday evening. Please continue to pray for his recovery.

Weekend Recap

On Saturday we went to visit Peter in the hospital. He's been in the hospital for over 2 weeks now. He is doing better, but he will probably have surgery this week to put in a G tube. Please pray that he continues to do well and that there aren't any complications from the surgery. While we were there Grandpa Don got to hold little Jo.

On Sunday we went to Phil's birthday party. I can't believe he is already 4 years old! He was so nice to Josephine and sang her a song. He also kept saying, "I like your baby." He is such a sweet, caring little boy! Here are some pictures from the party. As you can see, everyone wanted to hold Jo. She is such a loved little girl!

One Month Old!

Little Jo is one month old! Time has gone by so fast! Poor Josephine has a hard couple of weeks. She was diagnosed with silent acid reflux earlier this week. Then she had a reaction to the medication that she was on. We also think that she might have a milk protein allergy or sensitivity, and this could be what is causing or aggravating the reflux. So, I have been on a dairy free diet to see if that helps her. We already think she is doing better. The past few nights she has finally gone back to sleeping in her bassinet. Before she would only sleep if someone was holding her upright on their chests. She hated to be flat on her back because of the reflux. But, things seem to be getting better, and we'll know in a week or so if her new medication for reflux is working. Some babies with reflux struggle to gain weight and have a lot of eating issues. She's been gaining weight great, so we're thankful for that. In fact, I've already had to pack away some of her newborn size onesies and clothes! Thanks for checking in on us, and please pray that Jo's reflux will get better soon.

Three Weeks Old!

Josephine seems to be changing daily! Her cheeks are getting chubbier, and she has more alert time during the day. She loves to be talked to, and she especially loves her Daddy's voice. She's such a precious baby, and we're so blessed to be her parents! We love you, Jo-Jo!

Busy Weekend

We were busy this past weekend, but Jo did great. On Saturday we took her to a couples wedding shower for Ryan's brother and his fiancee. She was so good, and she slept almost the whole time. On Sunday we took her to church and then over to a family gathering. My aunt, uncle, and cousins were visiting from St. Louis, so they got to meeting little Jo. It was so great to see them all!
